Conditions for first CPTC sketchy

POMEROY–The Pomeroy Gun Club started the 10–week Camas Prairie Trap competition on Saturday January 7 for Juniors, and Sunday January 8 for the Senior Club.

The Juniors faced a strong east wind that made for tough conditions on Saturday, but several youth shooters shot decent scores.

In the 12-year-old and under 16-yard competition, Luke Collier had the top score of 17 X 25 and he was followed closely by Rowdy Cole and Carter Barron with scores of 16. Collier had an even better Handicap score shooting and 18 while Collier and Barron each posted scores of 16 again.

In the Sub Junior division, Gunner Magill had the top 16-yard score with a very nice 23 X 25 and Braxton McKeirnan was runner-up with a score of 21. McKeirnan had the top Handicap score with a 23 while Magill and Preston Hinchliff put up scores of 19.

In the Junior division Top 16-yard scores were posted by Maddox Anderson, Brodie Magill, and Ollie Severs all with 21s. Colby Ledgerwood and Brady Bott led the Juniors in Handicap with a pair of 22s.

For the Senior Club conditions were a little nicer on Sunday, and Bill Fruh and Holly Ledgerwood posted perfect scores of 25 in the 16-yard event. Kenny Bott, Larry Bunch, Robert DesJardin, Josh Hames, Travis Ledgerwood, Mitch McGreevy and Wayne Tetrick all missed just one target for scores of 24. Steve Brown led the Handicap shooters with a 24 and Fruh posted a 23 for the top scores in that event.

In Continentals Ken Bott, Steve Brown, and Ben Feider had the top scores of 24. Luke Ledgerwood posted a 23.

Steve Brown finished a good day with a 44 in Doubles while Buck Geiger and Brian Bingman put of scores of 43.

Shooting will resume for Juniors this Saturday, January 14 at 8 a.m., and adult shooters on Sunday, January 15 at 9 a.m.
