Good weather, poor scores for CPCS week-6
POMEROY–The Camas Prairie 10-week shooting competition saw some good weather for shooters during the sixth week of the event at the Pomeroy Gun Club, but good scores did not materialize on a disappointing weekend.
In the 12-year-old and younger 16-yard competition Rowdy Cole posted a 22X25 score to lead that age group. Carter Barron shot the best score in Handicap with a score of 20.
Braxton McKeirnan and Gunner Magill had a pair of 23s to lead the Sub Juniors in the 16-yard competition on Saturday. Gunner returned on Sunday and posted a 24 that was an allowable score to help the Senior Club in their scoring. McKeirnan and Magill also led the division in Handicap with a pair of 22s.
Brodie Magill was the top Junior shooter in the 16-yard division with a 24 and Ollie Severs posted a 22. Severs and Brady Bott led the older division in Handicap with scores of 22.
The Adult Club could not post a perfect score in the 16-yard event on Sunday, with Buck Geiger, Lee Koller, Thomas Warren, and Wayne Tetrick all missing one target for scores of 24 along with the Score of 24 that Gunner Magill added on Sunday.
In Handicap Tracy Hanger led all adults with a score of 24 and Buck Geiger and Brian Bingman posted a pair of 23s.
In the Continental competition Jim Adams and Kenny Bott posted perfect scores of 25 and Brian Bingman had a 24.
Jim Adams led Doubles shooters with a score of 44 and Brian Bingman and Tracy Hanger had scores of 43.
The Pomeroy Junior Club remains in second place in the 24 Club Camas Prairie field eight targets behind leader Hermiston Gun Club. The Pomeroy Senior Club slipped to eighth place in the competition with their disappointing showing during week six.
Next shooting will be Saturday the February 18 for the youngsters and Sunday, February 19 for the Senior Club and Juniors that did not have a chance to shoot on Saturday. Colton Gun Club is also hosting a registered shoot on Saturday, February 18 with 100 16-yard targets, 100 Handicap targets and 100 Doubles targets offered. Several Pomeroy Gun Club members plan on attending.
