East Washingtonian to expand coverage

POMEROY–The East Washingtonian, the 141-year-old historical Garfield County document, will expand coverage area, information, and readership with bordering Columbia County, highlighting common interest articles, sports, events and advertising, in the upcoming May 18, 2023 edition.

The East Washingtonian has finally seen the light, that two relatively close communities of Dayton and Pomeroy, share more than geographical commonalities and family connections. We share organizations, events, farming, livestock, the Blue Mountains, Tucannon, Columbia Pulp, the Snake River, recreation, a State Senator and two State Representatives. Not only that, Dayton will once again compete in 1B sports beginning this fall, making the two school districts competitors, as well as partners in education.

What you will observe in coming editions are additional relatable news, community events, a greater advertising demographic, more classified Ad opportunity, public notices, and celebration opportunities in both communities.

There will be no change to the East Washingtonian office on at 742 Main St., and mailing address of PO Box 70; the printed newspaper will mail out of the Pomeroy Post Office as usual, and will continue to maintain the newspaper of record status in Garfield County. The East Washingtonian online paper at eastwashingtonian.com will contain all the elements of the printed version, plus more.

Our support of community events, organizations, schools, public offices, local medical facilities, businesses, and friendships will continue to grow. We hope you enjoy the new look and coverage of the East Washingtonian.
