POMEROY–The Garfield County Fire District No. 1 Commissioners introduced a new part-time emergency medical technician and discussed replacing the Medic 30 ambulance at their meeting on July 11.
Andy Reggiero-Smith was certified as an EMT in 2016 and has served as a volunteer with the City of Clarkston Fire Department, as well as contracted EMT work for Clearwater Mill. He has several certifications, including hazardous materials.
Medic 30 has been constrained to operations within Pomeroy due to a mechanical issue. The GCFD commissioners authorized Fire Chief James Cleveland to get estimates for a replacement ambulance. The District maintains a schedule of replacing a vehicle every 10 years and replaced Medic 20 in 2021, but chose to go ahead with replacing Medic 30 due to the mechanical issue.
The brush truck that was previously purchased has arrived and is almost ready to go on calls, lacking only radio installation and graphics before it will join the other GCFD vehicles in action.
