Pomeroy shooters competitive at Colton

POMEROY–Pomeroy Gun Club members Steve and Holly Jo Ledgerwood and Larry Bunch shot at the Western Zone shoot in Colton July 14-16 and brought home some trophies provided by the Colton Club.

The Western Zone shoot involves 11 Western clubs from various states and Canadian provinces. Scores are shared over the internet and winners can get Zone trophies and cash prizes as well as trophies provided by the host Clubs. No Pomeroy shooters won a Zone Trophy but they did take home some Colton trophies.

On Friday, Holly tied for High Lady with Erin Bauer of Colton with a score of 96. The ladies decided to carry the shoot-off over to the first half of the 200 singles championship and Erin prevailed 96-95. Holly broke a 98 in the second 100 on Saturday and recorded a 200-target score of 193 which gave her that day's Lady II Trophy.

Bunch broke a 98 in Friday's singles and shot off against Rod Hubner of Garfield and Hubner prevailed in that shoot off 24-23.

Bunch Broke a 95 in the first half of the Singles Championship on Saturday, and a 97 in the second 100 for a score of 192 which was good enough for him to take home the B Class trophy.

In the Handicap event on Sunday, Bunch had a 92 which was High in the mid yardage category; he also won a Trophy with an 88 to take home B Class honors in Friday's Doubles.

In other recent shoots, Holly broke a pair of 92s in the championship singles at Nez Perce Gun Club's Father's Day shoot and brought home the Lady Champion Trophy.

At Troy-Deary's 4th of July Shoot, Ledgerwood shot scores of 94 and 91 in singles and finished just one target behind Erin Bauer in those events. Bunch had a 94 in singles on Sunday and an 88 in Handicap but no one from Pomeroy brought home any hardware.

The next area shoot will be at the Grangeville, Idaho Gun Club on August 26 and 27.
