Commissioners sign memoranda, discuss contracts

POMEROY-The Garfield County board of commissioners (BOCC) approved a memorandum of understanding with Pomeroy Partners for Health Families Coalition, an addendum to the agreement for professional services of a hearings examiner, and discussed the timeline of a contract with the Garfield County Deputies Association at their meeting on August 7.

The memorandum of understanding with Pomeroy Partners creates an agreement for the Coalition to disperse funds that the county is receiving from the Opioid Abatement Council, the most recent amount being about $2,600. The agreement will be in place for as long as the county is receiving funds from OAC, but does have an option to be terminated at any time.

The BOCC approved an addendum to an established agreement for the professional services of a hearing examiner that updates rates that had not been changed since 2008.

The commissioners met with the Garfield County Deputies Association to discuss timing and progress on a three-year contract. The contract has been delayed by a revamping of the county's personnel policy that is happening at the same time and impacts the contract. The contract and the personnel policy is anticipated to be ready for bargaining by the end of September. The Deputies announced that Garfield County's Dispatchers are joining the same union and will present their own collective bargaining unit.

In further business, the commissioners also approved a memorandum of understanding with CSC for e-recording billing processes, pending Prosecutor Matt Newberg approval. Also, City Councilman Mike Cassetto thanked County Engineer James Wege and the County Road Crew for their help with Pomeroy's chip sealing project.
