Port commissioners discuss repairs

POMEROY-The Port of Garfield County commissioners approved a water leak repair, budgeting for re-staining, and discussed use of the cement slab left from the demolition of warehouse three at their meeting on August 3.

The commissioners authorized emergency repair for a slow water leak on Port property, not to exceed $7,000. The expected cost of the repair is around $5,000.

The commissioners also approved placing re-staining the United States Forest Service building on the budget for 2024. The project is estimated to cost $20-30,000 and is anticipated to begin in spring of 2024.

Due to public desire, the Port commissioners decided to pursue replacing the recently demolished Warehouse 3. The remaining cement slab will be evaluated for strength to determine whether it can be reused.

The commissioners also discussed needed repairs at Central Ferry facilities, including painting the bathroom and investigating grant resources for fixing or replacing the boat ramp.
