POMEROY–The City Council discussed a broken pool boiler and speeding concerns on Arlington Street according to the minutes from their August 8 meeting.
The boiler at the Pomeroy Municipal Pool has broken beyond repair. City Superintendent Mike Lockard and Clerk/Treasurer Diane Taylor will apply for a maintenance grant from the Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office for funding to replace the equipment. The pool will not be heated until the replacement is purchased and installed.
Public concern due to speeding on Arlington Street was expressed at the meeting. Speed limit signs previously ordered have arrived and will be installed soon. Concern was also expressed over the rising deer population in Pomeroy and thistles growing in the Main Street right-of-way. Options of addressing these issues were discussed, including meeting with County Commissioner Jim Nelson to discuss the deer population.
