POMEROY-The Garfield County Hospital District Board of Commissioners approved a staff reappointment, two policy updates, and approved a letter of support to staff at their meeting on September 5.
The reappointment of Andrew Park, M.D., as a part-time physician at Garfield County Memorial Hospital was approved. Dr. Park has been with GCHD since 2017.
The Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) plan policy was updated to align with Center of Medicare and Medicaid Services interpretive guidelines. The Finance Assistance Policy was amended to encourage application for Medicare rather than to require application.
The GCHD board approved a letter of support to the staff of Garfield County Memorial Hospital and Pomeroy Medical Clinic, stating their zero-tolerance policy toward workplace violence as well as stating that the staff is the District's greatest asset. Signage will go up following the letter.
In further business, the District received a distressed hospital grant for $408,333. The grant is part of the eight million dollars set aside by Washington State legislature for distressed Washington hospitals.
