Beekeeping 101 program at Library

POMEROY–The Friends of the Denny Ashby Library and the Denny Ashby Library offer Beekeeping 101, a free community presentation by Barbara DeHerrera at the Senior Center on Monday, October 16 at 1 p.m.

Barbara DeHerrera will elaborate of beginning beekeeping; the who, what, why, how, and when to get started on this hobby.

Honeybees pollinate and are essential to crops such as fruit, nuts and vegetables in our gardens and fields each year. Without these beneficial pollinators, fresh produce would decline, and food for human consumption would waiver significantly. According to activesustainability.com, humans would only have four years to live if all bees disappear from the face of the Earth. In addition to being essential pollinators, bees maintain the environments biodiversity and produce a commodity-which comes in the form of high-quality food: honey, royal jelly, and other byproducts as beeswax, propolis and honey bee venom.

Join Ms. DeHerrera and get to know how to start a beekeeping hobby.
