POMEROY–The Garfield County 4-H program needs adult volunteers to be club leaders for all interest areas. In addition, volunteers are especially needed for family living clubs which includes cooking, sewing, crafting, knitting/crochet. There has been an expressed interest in robotics, shooting sports and photography.
The 4-H programs are for kids who live in the country, kids in the city and kids everywhere in between. 4-H welcomes both boys and girls and all races and religions. More boys and girls belong to 4-H than to any other youth group in the nation.
Current 4-H clubs, Garfield County Livestock, Blue Ribbon 4-H, Garfield County Country Kids, and Pirate Ponies, offer projects in large animals, horse, beef, swine, sheep, and goats. The Creative Kids club offers projects in cooking, sewing, and crafts. This club has grown to over 30 members, making it difficult for one leader to handle.
As leaders you can instill the importance of life skills, teamwork, pride in ownership and self/project improvement. There is no limit to the number of times we can get involved, help others strive for excellence and seek higher self-knowledge and awareness.
