POMEROY–The Garfield County Board of Commissioners (BOCC) approved a grant application, an inter-fund transfer, and a master application for ancillary insurance policies at their meeting on October 2.
The application for a Capital Improvement grant from Washington State Department of Agriculture in the amount of $66,589.60 is to potentially cover replacements of the grandstands at the Garfield County Fairgrounds. The current wooden grandstands present a safety risk to fair-goers and others who use the facilities throughout the year. The proposed replacements are five sections of 15 foot, 10-row aluminum bleachers. The County will provide $35,000 of matching monetary and in-kind funds if the application is accepted for a project total of $101,589.60.
The BOCC approved a transfer of $8,395.24 from the current expense fund to the historical document preservation fund, to cover expenses already paid for labor and software for digitizing Garfield County Commissioners' historical documents by Tyler Technology.
In addition, the commissioners approved the 2024 Master Application to Washington Counties Insurance Fund for Garfield County's ancillary policies. Then approved a request of door hardware purchase that is part of the previously approved courtroom grant, and permission to light the Courthouse red in honor of Red Ribbon Week, a drug-awareness campaign that is currently being conducted at the Pomeroy Jr/Sr High School.
