POMEROY–United States Postal Service (USPS) mail carrier Dawn Jentz, serving this city, was injured while on her delivery route, in a rollover accident on October 6.
Though injured, Jentz left the accident scene and walked over a mile to the nearest residence for assistance after her vehicle rolled over on Heaton Gulch Road three miles north of Pomeroy. She was transported to Tri-State Memorial Hospital in Clarkston for treatment of her injuries.
The mail was recovered and delivered, aside from some damaged articles that were held for specialized handling. The Dayton Post Master will help with delivery as well. The Garfield County Sheriff’s Office investigated the accident and the report has not yet been filed. A substitute carrier will handle Jentz’s route until she is recovered, along with extra hands, if the volume is heavy.
Rita Hazard of the Pomeroy Post Office, warns drivers to “be extremely cautious” on graveled roads with changing weather and to watch for hunters and other hazards. She stated that the accident site was near the site of another carrier accident two years ago.
