Grants, cheerleading, and Veteran's Day discussed

POMEROY–The District School Board was advised that the district is accepting Shepherd Grant proposals; was asked to reinstate cheerleading as a sport; and heard other business activities including conference scheduling, and the Veteran’s Day assembly, during the recent meeting October 24.

Superintendent Rachel Gwinn announced that the district accepted Shepheard Foundation grant proposals which were then turned in on Friday, October 27.

The Board was approached by Chelsea Eaton to consider reinstating High School Cheerleading as a sport. She indicated her plan for fundraising, supervision, and her interest in the position for the program.

In other business, the board was advised that Stacia Bowen was selected as Academic All Star for KLEW; activities for home coming week have been scheduled, a Veteran’s Day assembly planned in the High School Gym on November 8 at 9 a.m.; scheduling of conferences for the Elementary and specific individuals in the High School with chronic absences and who are not on point with assignments and grades; and to also review the Tier 3 disciplinary system with parents.

The next meeting is schedule at the High School Library on Wednesday, November 29 at 6 p.m.
