POMEROY–The Pomeroy City Council passed the 2024 property tax levy certification and resolution, recognized volunteers at the Crystal Springs Golf Course, and granted relief for a water overage charge at their meeting on November 20.
The 2024 property tax will include a 1% increase over 2023, as passed in resolution 23-13. The levy certification that is submitted to the Garfield County board of commissioners includes new construction and will show an amount higher than reflected by the increase.
The council approved waiving membership fees for 2024 at the Crystal Springs Golf Course for Tom Ruchert and Dell Grove in recognition of the volunteer work they do at the Course. Ruchert and Grove have assisted with project at the course that benefit both the membership club and the City of Pomeroy.
Brian Bartels submitted a request for relief from a water overage charge for Twisted Wire Coffee. The overage was caused by a leak in the sprinkler system. The system has been shut down for the winter and plans are in place to repair it before being used again next spring. The council granted $346.89 relief, half of the total $693.77 charge.
Councilman Jim Harris extended a thank you to all outgoing members of the City Council.
