Thanks to the generosity of the Harold and Helen Shepherd Foundation, and the Pacific Power Foundation, those attending parades on Main St. will be able to hear announcer Brad Gingerich a lot clearer and from a lot farther away. The two organizations contributed a total of $12,500 for a new sound system downtown.

Dr. Cindy Landgren, Garfield County's veterinarian for the past 10 years, has accepted an officer's commission in the U.S. Army and will leave Monday for basic training in San Antonio, Texas. After the 13-week officer's training session, Cindy will have a few days home with her husband Dave and sons Scott and Nathen before she reports to Brunswick Naval Air Station in Maine. Cindy, who is now Capt. Landgren, talked to a recruiter at a veterinarians' meeting, made the decision to enlist and was commissioned in June last year.

Multi-colored Christmas door hangers for the rooms at Garfield County Memorial Hospital were completely revised this year by the members of the Petal Pushers Garden Club, which has maintained the project for several years. The doors of the hospital were decorated with the "hangers" of felt and other materials. There are some 15 doors-and each hanger is an original work of art.

Lease of the Pomeroy Meat & Livestock's 125 frozen food lockers to Harley Van Ausdle, who will move his flower shop to the storeroom of the meat market, was announced by Verle Whittaker, owner of the building, Wednesday. Oliver Morrison, present holder of the lease on the meat market and lockers, announces that he will close out his meat business Saturday, February 5.

A meeting of the Wenaha Game Association is called by the president, L.T. Chrisopherson, to be held Saturday night, Jan. 12, in the game room. The question whether the local association shall continue its membership in the state association or withdraw will be determined. This matter was overlooked at the annual meeting held recently.

Sunday morning H.A. Adams, of the grocery firm of Allen & Adams, discovered that the cellar and warehouse back of their grocery store had been opened by a thief who had drawn the staples and removed the locks from the doors. Upon investigation nothing was missed and the supposition is that the thief was frightened away by the approach of someone before entering either department. There is no clue to the perpetrators up to the present time.
