Severs selected to 1B All State 1st team

POMEROY––Three-sport Pirate standout Ollie Severs will represent Pomeroy in the running back position on the All-State 1B team, as selected by the Washington State Football Coaches Association, Kyle Kimball, Pirate football head coach, announced January 15.

"Ollie was all-league running back, and defensive line man as well as our team Most Valuable Player," Kimball said. "He led the Pirates in rushing yards, receiving yards, touchdowns, and total points."

Severs's Senior year was a good one with 663 yards gained on 64 carries for 10.4 yards average and 12 touchdowns. He made 20 receptions, nine for touchdowns, chalking up 555 yards for the Pirates, an average of 27.8 yards.

He averaged 115.5 yards per game rushing, totaling 1,270 yards this past season, 663 yards rushing and 555 through the air.

Players were nominated by their league and a committee of coaches comprised of a chairman and a representative from each league ranked the nominees. The top ranked players at each position were awarded All-State. Players were named for all six classifications.

This is the first true All-State team done by the WSFCA ever and the first one completed for the state since 2019, Kimball said.
