Saturday's winds help youth's shooting averages

POMEROY–Severe winds during the seventh week of Camas Prairie competition plagued Pomeroy Gun Club members once again. This time winds were the area's customary southwest variety and hit shooters from behind rather than right in the face, so targets were a little easier to set for consistency than that of east wind targets of previous weeks.

The Youth shooters had a little better condition on Saturday, than the adults dealt with on Sunday. In the 12-year-old and under division, Rowdy Cole once again had the top 16-yard score of 22X25 and Josh Hastings posted an 18. In Handicap for the youngest shooters, Cole posted another 22 and Carter Barron had a 16.

In the Sub Junior Division Chase Warren and Judson Hall had the top 16-yard scores of 20 and Luke Collier was one target back with a 19. Sawyer Brenner had the top Handicap score of 21 and Collier posted a 19.

In the Junior classification competition, Gunner Magill posted the best 16-yard score with a 23, Ollie Severs had a 21 and Mason Garcia posted a 20. In Handicap for the older kids, Ollie Severs posted a perfect 25 and Magill had a 20.

The adults had tough conditions on Sunday and the best scores were 24s posted by Ben Feider, Mitch Ruchert, and Wayne Tetrick. Jim Adams, Sean Beale, Larry Bunch and Tracy Hanger all put up scores of 23 in the 16-yard event.

In Handicap, Holly Ledgerwood, Larry Bunch and Mason Blachly had the top scores of 24 and Brian Bingman had a 23.

In Continentals, Brian Bingman and Buck Geiger had perfect 25s and Jim Adams missed one for a 24. Adams had the top Doubles score with a 46, Jeff Hannas was one target back with a 45 while Brian Bingman, Larry Bunch and Buck Geiger had scores of 43X50.

After seven weeks, the Pomeroy Junior Club remained in 5th place and the Senior Club moved up to 11th place in the 25-club competition. Shooting at the local range will resume this coming Saturday.
