POMEROY–The Pomeroy Gun Club enjoyed nicer weather and better shooting conditions during week 8 of the Camas Prairie Shoot, and for the most part that was reflected in some good scores this past weekend.
Rowdy Cole, 12, was probably the most surprising star of Week 8 of the 10-week shoot as he recorded a 24X25 in the 12-year-old and under division during the 16-yard event and then turned around and broke a perfect 25 in the Handicap competition to lead all the youngest shooters. Carter Barron posted a couple of 16s for runner-up honors
In the weekends Sub Jr. group Byron Collier was the top 16-yard shooter with a score of 22 and Sawyer Brenner posted a 21. In Handicap Judson Hall shot a 21 and Hagen Taylor was one target back with a 20.
The older Junior Kids were led by the 24 put up by Gunner Magill in the 16-yard event and Mason Garcia and Ollie Severs had scores of 22. In Handicap Severs had a 24 and Magill posted a 23.
On Sunday, the Adults managed two perfect 25s at 16-yards, which were put up by Jim Adams and Brian Bingman. Six shooters posted near perfect 24s, the list included Larry Bunch, Buck Geiger, Mike Hastings, Brodie Magill, Mitch Ruchert and Wayne Tetrick. Unfortunately, two of those shooters missed their last Target of 25 and we will not name them since they have already suffered enough.
In Adult Handicap Glenn Barber put up a perfect 25, Brian Bingman continued a good Day with a 24. Posting 23s were Buck Geiger, Mitch Ruchert, Wayne Tetrick, Josh Hames, Jeff Hannas, and Matt Fitzgerald.
The Continental competition saw perfect 25s put up by Jim Adams and Travis Ledgerwood. Glenn Barber, Ben Feider, Wayne Slaybaugh, Wayne Tetrick, and Buck Geiger posted 23s.
In the days Doubles event Buck Geiger had the top score of 47X50, Larry Bunch and Tracy Hanger shot 45 and Jim Adams posted a 44.
After eight weeks, the Junior Club is in 5th place in the 24 Club competition seven targets behind 4th place Garfield. The Adult Club is 3.25 targets behind Winchester in 12th place. Two weeks remain in the competition and then the Camas Prairie Handicap will be held at Walla Walla Gun Club March 21-24 to culminate the Winter League.
