DAYTON–Pirate golfers Grayson Slaybaugh and Kiersten Bartels were among the leaders at the Dayton High School-hosted league match at Touchet Valley Golf Club Thursday, April 11.
The next event for D9 teams will be held at Richland's Columbia Point Golf Club on Thursday, April 18.
Pomeroy sophomore Grayson Slaybaugh was the low scorer with an 84 of the ment, while teammate Reggie Ott Jr. was sixth at 106. Low boy for Dayton was Cayle Davis at 115.
Kiersten Bartels of Pomeroy came in second at 110 after Tekoa-Rosalia's Maddie Haas with 92 on the women's side. Dayton's Opal Hair-Morin carded 144.
"On behalf of all the players and coaches, a huge thank you to Touchet Valley Golf Club for allowing us to hold this event," commented Head Coach Al Damron. He expressed appreciation to Dayton Coach Mike McGhan for organizing the match.
"It was great to see all of these kids out there having fun in great weather," Damron said.
The match featured 47 players from eight of the Southeast 1B District 9 schools, including Dayton, Pomeroy, Liberty Christian of Richland, Liberty Christian of Walla Walla, Tekoa-Rosalia, Waitsburg, Touchet and Yakima Nation Tribal.
