Baseball Pirates lose a close one

ANACORTES–The season is over for the Pomeroy Pirates but not without a fight.

Orcas Island squeezed two runs in late in the game to take a 2-1 lead and bump the Pirates from further baseball competition this year. Head Coach Kyler Lovgren said the Pirates battled to the end.

The Pirate Track and Field Team is sending a large contingent to the District 7/9 Regionals in Ritzville on May 15 and 17. Many of Head Coach Jon Van Vogt's team are favored to reach the state meet in Yakima the following week.

Three Pirate golfers are in the State Match, says Coach Al Damron. They'll golf on May 21 and 22 in Tumwater.
