Pirates sending large crew to Regionals

RITZVILLE–The Pomeroy Pirates are sending quite a contingent to the District 7/9 Regional meet here Wednesday, May 15 and Friday, May 17.

In the boys 100m. senior Tyler Slaybaugh will take his very fast 11.51 time against a field of 16 competitors. Slaybaugh is also looking to dominate the pole vault with his PR of 12-6.

The Boys 400m. will feature junior Jett Slusser in the first heat. His best time is 56.97. He'll sprint the 200m. as well with a PR of 25.17.

Boys pole vaulters, along with Slaybaugh, are Levi Bowen (11-6), Jacob Reisinger (7-6) and Robby Van Vogt (7-0).

The Girls 4X200m Relay team of Haven Kimble, Hollie Van Vogt, Natalia Larios and Tatum Jones will compete.

Ariah Bingman will run the 1,600m. in the first heat. Her best time is 6:21.07.

Kaleb Miller will run the 800 m., testing his competitive 2:11.33.

Layton Neely is set for the 110. High Hurdles with a PR of 23.73.

Ariah Bingman is in the 100m. dash with her PR of 22.43. She's also in the 300m. Int. Hurdles where her 1:10.60 makes her competitive.

Look for Jaycee Ames in the 3,200 m. Her best time is 21:38.51.

One of the best 4X100m. Relay teams is Pomeroy's with a time of 47.13, just a shade behind Valley Christian. The team includes Jacob Reisinger, Slusser, Boone Schmidt and Tyler Slaybaugh.

The Girls 4X100m. Relay has Haven Kimble, Hollie Van Vogt, Natalia Larios and Tatum Jones, and their best is 58.60.

Pomeroy's boys 4X400m. Relay boasts a time of 3:52.99 and includes Levi Bowen, Schmidt, Miller and Slusser at anchor.

Lucy Shields will be in the high jump. Her 4-2 mark is among the best.

Three Pirates are in the girls pole vault: Tatum Jones, Reagan McKeirnan and Hollie Van Vogt. They are all at 7-0 for PR.

David Tejero's best mark is 109-02.50 in the boys' discus. In the shot put, Tejero has a PR of 37-8. In the javelin, Tejero's best effort is 127-8.

Robby Van Vogt is a freshman with a triple jump mark of 35-2.25.

Girls' javelin has two Pirates competing: Carolina Morfin at 76-6 and Hollie Van Vogt at 92-3.

Boys' high jumpers from Pomeroy are Kaleb Miller and Levi Bowen. Miller's best is 5-4 and Bowen's 5-6.
