POMEROY–The Pomeroy baseball team held their 2024 awards picnic at the Shepherd Field on May 22. Head Coach Kyler Lovgren spoke about the season, particularly the game against Orcas Island in Anacordis. "That last game was memorable for me," Coach Lovgren said. "I saw the Pomeroy community show up for their kids and the kids show up for their community. It was them delivering on everything I asked. I couldn't be more proud." The team took first place in the Wheat division, and made it to the first round of the State tournament.
Receiving varsity letters and State Participant pins were Conrad Nelson, Nolan Newberg, Rory McKeirnan, Vincent Vecchio, Gunnar Magill, Payton Cannon, Kyzer Herres, Merritt Scoggin, Oliver Severs, Trace Roberts and Nicholas Bryson. Severs and Vecchio were names All-League. Herres received the Most Improved team award, Scoggin received the Best Teammate award, Severs received the Golden Glove award for best defensive player, Roberts received the Big Stick award, and Bryson received the Clutch award and the All-County award created this year.
Coach Lovgren thanked the players' families for their support throughout the season. The ceremony ended with a hamburger bar and potluck picnic.
