Remembering George Nethercutt
WASHINGTON, D.C.–Eastern Washington Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers (WA-05) remembers former U.S. Representative George Nethercutt, who passed away June 14, 2024.
"My heart is sad," McMorris Rodgers said. "George Nethercutt was a giant amongst men who served the people of Eastern Washington with honor and patriotism for a decade. George was a man of character who led with kindness and conviction, and he was a person I proudly looked up to long before the day I was sworn in to represent the Fifth District we shared such a love for. He was one-of-a-kind, and I will miss his friendship dearly."
"Today, let us all come together–here in Eastern Washington and beyond–in thoughts and prayers for the family and friends of George Nethercutt during this time of mourning," she said.
Nethercutt, was born in Spokane Wash., and educated at Washington State University (1967), received a Juris Doctorate from Gonzaga (1971); and practiced law in Spokane, Seattle, and Almira, Wash. He served as a Republican U.S. Representative from 1994 to January, 2000; and served on the House Committee on Appropriations; a member of the House Science Committee; and the Energy and Space and Aeronautics subcommittees.
