Pirate baseball, fast-pitch players named All League

POMEROY––Five Pomeroy Pirate players of America's pastime, baseball and fast-pitch softball, were named to the Southeast 1B All Opponent Team for the 2024 season, and Pirate baseball coach Kyler Lovgren was honored as a Co-Coach of the Year.

Pirate Fast-Pitch player Hannah Bagby, a senior, was named to the First Team for positions of infield and pitcher. Pirate catcher Kendyll Potoshnik, a freshman, was also given the nod

Three Pirate baseball team members-two seniors and a freshman-were named to the All-Opponent Team, including Trace Roberts, who was named Player of the Year.

Roberts, a senior, pitched for the Pirates and also covered first base when not on the mound.

Ollie Severs was right behind teammate Roberts on the list for his contributions both as a pitcher and catcher.

Pirate freshman Vinny Vecchio played the infield and also was called to pitch for the Buccaneers.

Lovgren and Colton's Steve Judy were Co-Coaches of the Year. Fast-Pitch Coach of the Year was Colton's Brad Nilson.

Joining Bagby and Potoshnik were Player of the Year Kiya Soza, Colton; Lila Hutchens, Dayton; Peyton Benavides, Dayton; Clare Bowechop, Gar-Pal; Kyndra Stout, Colton; Mere Bell, Colton; Kameryn Tupling, Dayton; Libby Lehn, Tekoa-Rosalia; Clair Moehrle, Colton; Megan Maley, Tekoa-Rosalia; Clare Wilkins, Tekoa-Rosalia; and Emma Orfe, Gar-Pal.

With Roberts, Severs and Vecchio on the All-Opponent team were Matthew Deford, SJEL; Denver Hutchens, Dayton; Jordan McCowen, Dayton, Tanner Baerlocher, Colton; Colton Steinhoff, Dayton, Ryan Impson, Colton; Colton Pfaff, Gar-Pal; Will Durham, Dayton, and Rowan Edwards, Gar-Pal.
