Columbia County Commissioner
Marty Hall
A bit about myself and why I would like your vote this fall in my run for Columbia County Commissioner Disttrict No. 2. Although my elected experience is limited, I am completing my first term in this office as Commissioner.
I have served on various local groups including the Columbia County Cattleman's and our church board at Starbuck Community Church. I served two terms as a Fire Commissioner in Walla Walla when I lived there prior to moving to Columbia County in 2005.
After graduating Prescott high school in 1982 I then attended WSU. I have been involved in agriculture all my adult life and became self-employed in 2001, raising hay and cattle.
Community service incudes 36 years as a volunteer fireman, in Walla Walla County for 16 years and now 20 years and counting in Columbia County. Additionally, I am active in my church and many community functions including the county fair and various school and 4-H functions.
Serving as commissioner for my beloved county has been a privilege and one that I do not take lightly.
In addition to the daily tasks of the job here, are a few things we are progressing on and that I would like to see through.
Starting an HR department is an asset to the county but also protects our valued employees while providing them and environment where they can flourish.
In the post Covid era, we have also been able to get the Public Works Department back on track. We have 14 road and bridge projects either on the ground or in the works, totaling $21 million in grant funded projects. This helps bring state tax dollars back to Columbia County.
State wide, substance abuse and it's related crimes is very challenging. Sadly, we are not immune to that here locally. Having the Sherrif's department back to full force provides better protection for our citizens but brings the added challenge of funding both the Sheriff and the court services which also see an added work load when more crime is addressed.
The benefit of the county is my first priority in all decisions, and I do not take this lightly. I am asking for your support as I seek my second term as Commissioner here in Columbia County, District No 2.
Thank you, Marty Hall
