Cougar Creek fire

ASOTIN COUNTY–The Cougar Creek wildfire, has covered 17,602 acres and is twenty nine percent (29%) contained as of July 29, 2024. An unmanned aerial system and hand crews coordinated tactical firing operations in the northeast flank of the Cougar Creek Fire.

The latest update is the Asotin County Fairgrounds is under orders to keep this resource available for other emergencies within the region, therefore no occupancy currently. For those needing evacuation shelter services, please call the Whitcom 911 NON-EMERGENCY line at 509-758-2331, to have this shelter re-activated.

Cattle can be relocated to the Asotin County Fairgrounds, or the Lewiston Roundup is also available as a secondary location. please call Steve Mullins (509) 552-2500.
