POMEROY–A new poultry pen was built at the at the Garfield County Fairgrounds poultry barn by Emilee Blickenstaff, a member of the Feathered Friends 4-H Club.
Blickenstaff gave a presentation of her 4-H project on replacing the poultry pen at the Garfield County Fairgrounds to the group on Aug. 22. According to Blickenstaff, she chose her project because "the old one needed to be replaced and I knew my dad would be able to help me build it."
Materials for the project were sponsored by Clay and Sandy Barr, Blickenstaff's grandparents, and purchased at Home Depot. Her father, Jeff Blickenstaff, helped her build the new pen.
"As a 4-H leader, I am so proud of Emilee completing such an ambitious project," Feather Friends leader Maria Dispenza said. "She is a joy to have in our poultry club and inspires us all with her commitment to excellence."
Dispenza stated that the old pen will be used as "part of an interactive educational exhibit for the Small Animal barn". She encouraged fairgoers to come and see what they will do with it.
