LEWISTON–Pomeroy's pair of cross country runners continue to team up closely, Bethany Zimmerman and Kiersten Bartels coming in close together in the 70-competitor pack on the LCSC course here Saturday, September 21.
Zimmerman finished in 63rd place with a 28:29 time in the 5K run with teammate Bartels just a half minute behind at 28:59. Josie McLaughlin of St. George's won the event with an 18:45 mark.
"Kiersten and Bethany both improved their 3.1 mile times from the last meet," said Coach Greg Sharp. "Kiersten improved her average mile pace from 9:30 to 9:21 while Bethany improved her average mile pace from 9:24 to 9:11.
Pomeroy seventh grader Dylan Taylor finished the 2.5K course in the middle of the pack, 36th place with an 11:02 time. There were 78 runners with Jack Armstrong of Pullman's Lincoln winning in 8:46.
"Dylan improved his 1.5 mile time and average mile pace from 7:30 to 7:21," Sharp said.
"I look forward to what they will continue to do next week in Spokane at St. George's HS and Connell High School," he added.
