Today, we celebrate the life of a wonderful husband, father, son, and brother, Richard Wynne McKeirnan, 75.

Richard was born in Pomeroy, and the eldest son of Richard Francis McKeirnan and Patricia Louise (Knettle).

He was an Eagle Scout, wrestler, and football player at Pomeroy High School, where he graduated in 1967. He went on to college where he attended Gonzaga University, and graduated with a double major. Richard moved to Portland Ore., where he met the love of his life and was married in 1976 to "Ginger" Virginia Denise Gallien for 48 years.

He proudly served his community as a law enforcement officer. Richard began his career as a Deputy Sheriff of Garfield County and was later hired in 1973 to the Oregon State Police. During his career he worked on the Armed & Dangerous Criminal Task Force for the FBI and was awarded the FBI seal. After 36 years in law enforcement, he retired and enjoyed building furniture with his wife. Richard was a fan of the Chicago Cubs and never missed a Gonzaga basketball game.

Richard is survived by his siblings Shaleen (Steve) Waldher, Eric (Linda), Shaun Martin, Shuvaun (John) Wolpers, and Kevin; his three beautiful daughters Hilary, Erin (Chris) Brown, and Jennie (Matt) Trtek; five wonderful grandchildren Colin McKeirnan, Mia McKeirnan Bown, Raina, Payton, and Hunter Trtek

The service will be held at the Holy Rosary Church at 634 High St., Pomeroy Saturday, October 19 at 10 a.m. A reception will be held at Maple Hall following service.

In lieu of flowers, donation maybe made in Richard's name to Oregon Humane Society for his love of Beagles.
