POMEROY-The Garfield County Republicans hosted an Election Night Watch Party for the community at the Pataha Flour Mill on Nov. 5.
The group had multiple televisions playing several news networks that monitored both state and national races throughout the night. Board and card games were enjoyed, including a rousing game of Uno Flip, and a potluck nacho bar provided dinner to the 42 attendees.
Washington State Representatives Mary Dye and Joe Schmick gave speeches after the results showed their wins in their bids for re-election. "Garfield County's the best," Representative Dye stated. "We had a great time and we're proud of the turnout. I really appreciate all the support I've received from our community and from the district. It's been a fun summer. I'm looking forward to going back to Olympia and being a strong advocate for our district," Dye said.
"I am very humbled and honored for the faith that the people of the Ninth District have put in me representing them," Representative Schmick said. "I'm ready to go to work for the good people here."
The Watch Party continued late into the night, celebrating Donald Trump's victory in the 2024 Presidential race with cheers and a spontaneous singing of God Bless America. The party ended after President-elect Trump's acceptance speech.
