Pataha Flour Mill will have an Advent-themed "Praise Gathering" on Saturday Nov. 29. Vocal and instrumental music in preparation for Christmas will be presented by Juyne Bowles on the Mill's Wurlitzer organ, along with Jon Van Vogt on the piano, and other musical artists from the region. New participants are welcome.

The regular meeting of the Daughters of the Pioneers of Washington, Chapter No. 15, was held Monday in the home of Maxine Cox. Garfield County has three research papers included in the State Association of the Daughters of the Pioneers of Washington's book "Research & Remembrances". One by Laura Lyle, "Roads, Stage Coaches and Drivers," and two by Lena Fitzimmons, "The Dawn of Agriculture in Garfield County, Part I and Part II." Copies can be purchased from members or at the museum.

An estimated $700 damage-excluding labor-was done to windows of Pomeroy Grade School late Monday night, Nov. 26, Bob Bean, grade school principal, told the E.W. last week. Bean said some 23 windows were damaged by someone with a B-B gun who shot holes through windows, apparently at random, all around the building. Bean said there hadn't been very much vandalism at the grade school this year, up until last week's act.

A Garfield County 4-H club member, 17-year-old Wilma Beale, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Marion E. Beale, of Pomeroy, has just won a $300 scholarship for being one of the 12 best 4-H club seamstresses in the nation. In seven years of club work she has even mastered the technique of wool tailoring, most difficult of sewing skills. Premium money won this year alone enabled Miss Beale to buy a type-writer. She is now saving to buy an electric sewing machine.

"Adam and Eva," a three-act comedy, contains much humor and will be presented in a highly creditable manner, by the high school dramatic club, persons who have witnessed rehearsals predict. The play will be staged at the Seeley theatre Friday evening, and a well-filled house is already assured. The cast follows: Donley Chard, Vivian Kidwell, Wayne Trosper, Blanche Sanford, Blanche Brewer, Mildred Burt, Gilbert Dickson, Joe May, Gene Allison, Dean Sherfey.

Two of our correspondents, one at Peola and the other writing from the Deadman country, this week, report the sale of horses in their respective communities at good prices. These items recall to mind the fact that no industry in this part of the country has undergone such complete transformation in the past few years as the horse business. And this is an apt illustration of the mercurial temperament of the people engaged in any branch of business.
