QBH receives BMCF grant

WALLA WALLA–Pomeroy’s Quality Behavioral Health is one of a number of nonprofits which received grants awarded by the Blue Mountain Community Foundation recently. Some $223,200 in grants were awarded to local nonprofits based in and serving the communities of Umatilla, Walla Walla, Columbia and Garfield Counties.

Quality Behavioral Health received $18,000 to support operations.

This focus is one way that the board and staff of BMCF are embracing Trust-Based Philanthropy – a grantmaking philosophy that puts the emphasis of grant funding on supporting the mission of the successful applicants rather than a transactional award based on administering a program.

“Through these awards, we continue to strengthen the nonprofit ecosystem that provides vital services to our neighbors. It’s inspiring to see the impact these organizations make,” said Megan Patnode, Grants Manager.

Ninety-eight eligible applications were received.

Twenty-two proposals were awarded funding, including: Quality Behavioral Health: $18,000 to support operations; Project Timothy Christian Aid Center: $6,000 to support operations; The Club: $10,000 to support the Summer Youth Recreation Program; Skyline Adventures: $6,000 to support the ski/snowboard experience for youth and veterans; Akin Family: $14,000 to support operations; Athena Mainstreet Association: $5,000 to support operations; Blue Mountain Heart to Heart: $14,000 to support a mobile clinic for unstably housed seniors; Carnegie Picture Lab: $10,000 to promote equitable and culturally responsive art programs in schools; Central Washington Justice for Our Neighbors: $4,000 to support operations; Friends of Children of Walla Walla: $8,500 to support the Adults Befriending Children program; Inland Northwest Musicians: $3,750 to support operations; Lillie Rice Center Inc.: $16,700 to support operations; Neighbor 2 Neighbor Pendleton Inc.: $15,000 to support the winter homeless shelter operation; Pioneer Humane Society (PAWS): $17,000 to support animal wellbeing and shelter operations; SonBridge Center for Better Living: $13,750 to support the dental clinic and operations; The Health Center: $20,000 to provide mental health services to WWPS students; The STAR Project: $7,000 to support operations; Tri-County Partners Habitat for Humanity: $8,000 for Peyton Lane Affordable Housing; Trilogy Recovery Community: $10,000 to support operations; Walla Walla Alliance for the Homeless: $11,000 to support operations; Walla Walla Piano Group: $3,000 to support the expense of moving the grand piano; and Weston Area Development Association: $2,500 to support the Isham Saling House.
