POMEROY––Three Lady Pirates scored in double figures to lead the team to a resounding 56-30 win over the Liberty Christian Lady Patriots here Tuesday, and the team edged Asotin the night before, 27-20.
The Pirates are 1-0 in league and 3-1 overall.
This weekend's games are at Gar-Pal on Friday with a home game Saturday versus the Nighthawks of Oakesdale.
Pomeroy jumped to a 14-6 first-quarter lead and grew it to 30-16 at the break. The team continued with double-digit scoring in the second half.
Reagan McKeirnan scored big in the second quarter and Molly Warren poured in eight of her 14 points in the third stanza. Kiersten Bartels boosted the Bucs in the first half with nine points, including a second-quarter trey.
Against Asotin, Pomeroy edged ahead by a bucket here and a bucket there for a 27-20 league counter.
Scoring was democratic with nine Lady Pirates each scoring a handful of points while the defense held Lady Panther scoring to among four players and single digits.
Against DeSales, Head Coach Brian Koller pointed out the team's first-game jitters and struggles in the first half. "The second half we played better but still have a long way to go."
