POMEROY––The Harold and Helen Shepherd Foundation recently announced that is will be awarding some 21 grants for approximately $400,000 to area entities.
“This is our 28th year in giving for the Harold and Helen Shepherd Foundation,” said Gary Houser, trustee. “We had over 32 grant requests this year asking for $1,003,949.44. Unfortunately, we are not able to meet every request. We give away 5% of the portfolio value which was $400,384.70. We were pleased to give money to the following:”
1. Pomeroy School District $36,570.00
2. County of Garfield $19,950.00 (Fairgrounds, 4-H Camp, Friends of 911, and the Pony Punchers)
3. City of Pomeroy $122,302.67 (Lawn Mower, Chlorinator for pool, Pool passes, Cemetery mowing, money towards a new liner for the pool, paint exterior pool building)
4. Friends of the Library $1,500.00
5. Junior Gun Club $2,500.00
6. Columbia County Gun Club $1,500.00
7. Pomeroy Spinners $14,213.72
8. Senior Roundtable (Meals) $30,000.00
9. Senior Center $4,800.00
10. Pataha Flour Mill $20,000.00
11. Pomeroy Food Bank $5,000.00
12. Garfield County Hospital $14,896.31
15. Walla Walla Symphony $2,000.00
14. WWCC- Student scholarships $10,000.00
15. WSU $ 40,000.00 (Student Scholarships, Library, College of Medicine)
16. Pomeroy Swim Team $10,999.00
17. Pomeroy Assist $10,000.00
18. Garfield County Fire Dept. $32,000.00
19. Quality Behavioral Health $1,500.00
20. Pomeroy Community Center $18,000.00
