DAYTON–The Lady Pirates are now 2-2 in SE 1B league play and 5-3 overall after notching a 39-21 win at Liberty Christian on Monday and a squeaky-tight 38-36 overtime win in Dayton last Friday, December 27.
The team faces Genesee at home on Friday then hits the road to Waitsburg next Tuesday.
"Defensively we played one our better games and we rebounded better," commented Head Coach Brian Koller after the Liberty Christian game.
Taylor Gilbert scored a game-high 15, pouring in nine in the first quarter. Kiersten Bartels hit a bucket and swished a trey in the first quarter to round out scoring.
In the second quarter, Sadie Klaveano popped in a basket, Gilbert and Molly Warren each drained a three, and Caroline McKeirnan sank a basket to give the Lady Bucs a 24-9 lead at half time.
Gilbert and Warren each hit a trey in the third stanza and buckets by Klaveano and Isabella Field helped the team to a 34-17 lead and they cruised in the fourth quarter to the win.
