Pomeroy defense gives Pirates 51-37 edge

DAYTON–The Pirates rolled up a 29-16 half-time lead and the defense kept the lid on the Dayton Bulldogs throughout the game giving the Buccaneers a 51-37 SE 1B league victory here last week.

The Pirates visited Liberty Christian on Monday of this week, then hosts Genesee for a non-league game on Saturday. They travel to Waitsburg for a league counter on Tuesday.

The pirates are 3-4 overall, 3-1 in league.

Pomeroy's defense played a big role in the win. "We defended well all game long and were good enough offensively to slowly extend the lead throughout the game," said Head Coach Chris Wolf.

Scoring runs were led by Jacob Reisinger, Wolf said. "Jacob shot the ball well tonight and we did a good job of getting him the ball in position to score," he said. Reisinger scored 20 points, made three assists and steals.

Kyzer Herres had 10 points, four rebounds, and two steals and was very efficient with 5-6 shooting, Wolf said.
