Jess Winona competed in the 157-lb. classification, finishing fourth after a match with Kole Miller of Deer Park, losing by fall at :45.
COLBERT–Pirate junior Peyton Cannon finished second in the 190-lb. division at the Crusader Classic here January 11.
"Junior Peyton Cannon continues to lead the team," commented Head Coach Mat Slaybaugh. "He looked tough through all of his matches, even in his finals match where he lost. Peyton wrestled a 2024 1A state placer but held his own losing after three rounds by six points."
"I continue to be impressed by how much our guys are improving each week," Slaybaugh said. "The young guys are leaps and bounds ahead of where they were at the start of the season."
Junior Levi Bowen, had a great outing as well, Slaybaugh said. "He lost a tough semifinal match against a top 1A opponent knocking him into the consolation side for a third place finish," he said.
Jess Winona continues his impressive freshman season with a 4th place finish. "He is holding his own against opponents much older and continues to make it to the medal round of tournaments," Slaybaugh said.
