Lady Pirates count three league wins

POMEROY––With three weekends of the regular season remaining, the 5-2 Lady Pirates are in third place in the SE 1B Wheat Division behind second-place Oakesdale with an 8-2 league mark and leaders Garfield-Palouse at 9-0. Dayton, the Lady Pirates' opponents this Friday, is in fourth place with a 5-4 league record.

Gar-Pal comes to Pomeroy Saturday and the Lady Bucs travel to Colton next Tuesday, Jan. 21.

The Lady Pirates jumped to a 16-8 first-quarter lead and never looked back, the defense holding the Lady Timberwolves to single digits in the first three quarters to finish ahead 52-39.

"Defensive and rebounding have been our strong points lately," said Head Coach Brian Koller. "It's hard to note any stats as all the girls are contributing in their own ways. We are gaining every game and getting better. Hopefully we can continue this trend moving forward."

St. John/Endicott-LaCrosse was in town the night before, and the Lady Eagles limped away, stung by the 57-13 hammering doled out by Pomeroy. Carmen Fruh led scoring with 12 points, with Sadie Klaveano making 11 and Kendyll Potoshnik scoring eight.

The Lady Pirate roster was full in their 69-13 win over Waitsburg Jan. 8. Everyone scored with Kendyll Potoshnik leading with 14, catching fire in the third quarter with four bucket as the Pirates counted 27 points. Reagan McKeirnan scored 12 and Gilbert eight. Both Sadie Klaveano and Hollie Van Vogt made seven with Carmen Fruh and Kiersten Bartles scoring six.
